Different ways to make your home more beautiful

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Well the housing boom has come and gone.Quite a few people made a ton of money.  And many people lost a lot of money.  During the housing boom builders were making beautiful homes all over the place.  I am sure you have gone through those model homes.  Beautiful furniture were in the homes. Nice upgrads such as carpet and tile flooring.During the housing frenzy if you saw a house model you liked people would just go out and buy it.Now that you have the burst in the housing bubble, that isn’t a likely possibility.

So what is a person to do.I would love to show you some ways to have that beautiful model quality home. You can be able to get it without that huge price.  This is from helping my customers achieve it through tile in San Diego company.

The name of my business probably gives it away.By doing a simple upgrade of your floors, you will be able to make your home look just like a model.  Best of all, it won’t cost as much as a model home. But it might be able to increase your homes value or at least won’t allow it lose as much value.  This while everybody else’s values are dropping.

Sure you can go out and buy a bunch of carpet cleaning supplies. But it won’t be anything like completely redoing your flooring.  Yes it could be more expensive. But when you are talking in terms of being able to help keep your homes value, it is worth it.

What use to be an old an aging home, can now be changed.  It can be transformed into a beauty.By choosing to have beautiful flooring like tile or new carpet, it can change everything into looking like new.

But the part that is the best is that not only does it look good.If you ever choose to go and sell your house, you can ask for the best price.Doing that small bit of upgrades can work miracles. When your home is seen by potential buyers. They will be enamored by it.In this time where you have a lot of choosy buyers, the more quality your home appears. The faster the sale will be.  I know first hand this is true running my own carpet in San Diego company.

But like I said, selling might not be on your mind.Just having the want of a beautiful home to call your own might be what is on your mind.By having your floors done, you will be able to achieve that.

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Well the housing boom is over.  Many people have lost a lot of money or a lot of equity in their homes. But for plenty of families out there, they still are in possession of their homes. Only tough part now is to find a way to improve your investments value.

Well there a few different ways if you are on a shoestring budget to turn your house into something new.  How you ask?By having your carpets cleaned and maintained.  Running my own carpet cleaners San Diego company I have seen it first hand.  You can make an old house look like new again by doing simple carpet cleaning.

If you are really low on budget and maybe can’t afford a carpet cleaner maybe you can just purchase carpet cleaning products.  By purchasing carpet cleaning supplies you can do it yourself.Yes it would be great to be able to have a carpet cleaner clean your carpets for you.But during these tough times you might have to just do some things for yourself. You will be shocked at how much more beautiful the home can look when you do some cleaning.

Now if you have the means to go with a little more budget you can make your home look beautiful in a different way. That way I am referring to is going ahead and replacing your flooring altogether.  My company also does tile San Diego.Going out and completely putting in new flooring can do wonders to an older house.  It could really make an old house look like a million dollar house.

In this economy when your home values are dropping any way you can to stop it is worth it.By going out and doing some small home improvement projects can do miracles.   Whether you are doing simple carpet cleaning.Or if you go all the way and have all your flooring replaced. It can make the house look much different. And most important, it has the ability to make your house more valuable.Sure you won’t see the rise in home values like during the boom.  But at least you might stop the massive losses everyone else is experiencing.

Synthetic Fiber Carpet

Nylon
The fiber nylon was introduced first by the DuPont Chemical Company in 1938.  Several years later, after a great deal of development, nylon became the first synthetic fiber to be used in the entire carpeting industry.

The first 3 generations of fiber experienced many problems with the worst being staining.  The 4th generation fiber of nylon had a mill applied coating that solved a majority of the carpet staining problems.  The ability of the fiber to repel water and oil based spills as well as soil helped to propel nylon into the top selling carpet fibers out there.

After several other changes, the DuPont company introduced the fifth generation nylon fiber. This stain resistant fiber would repel most dye stains if treated in a reasonable time.  This fiber is more accurately called an acid dye blocker in that it doesn’t allow acid dyes to penetrate and stain the fiber.

The protective coating mill is applied and fills the dye sites with anionic molecules.

Tip
An easy way to test fiber for the presence of a fluorochemical is to cut a couple of fibers from a non traffic area and apply a few drops of oil and water mixture.  If it beads up, then there is an active fluorochemical present.

Whenever testing for the presence of the acid dye blocker, you should again cut a couple of fibers from a non traffic area, then immerse the fibers in a red kool-aid mixture and wait for 5 minutes or so.  Remove the fiber from the liquid and flush with neutral detergent solution.  If the acid blockers are present and active, there will be no discoloration.

Polyester
The fiber of polyester was first introduced into the garment industry around in the 1950s. By the late 1960s, polyester was introduced into the carpet industry as a face yarn.  In hand, feel, and appearance it is similar to nylon, although it doesn’t possess that same resiliency.

Polyester doesn’t absorb water based spills, isn’t affected by urine or kool-aid, but it will absorb oil based spills.  Polyester is non allergenic and mildew resistant.

Acrylic/modacrylic
Both of these fibers were first used as carpet yarns around the late 1940s.They disappeared around 1988 due to the competition from other fibers. In was reintroduced to the market around 1990 in Berber styling.

This was done so that people could take advantage of the wool like appearance, hand feel, and the fact that its more spot resistant, much easier for carpet cleaning, and not damaged in the ways that wool is.

Olefin
Olefin is the latest of the synthetic fibers to be adopted to carpets.  Once only available in continous filament, it is now produced in staple form as well.  Olefin has a wide variety of uses that include primary and secondary backing of tufted carpets, warp yarns, and other uses as well.

Outdoor Carpets For Patios, Decks And Gardens

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

The purpose of outdoor carpets is to improve the area outside your house, such as walkways or the perimeter of garden areas. They are very different in construction than normal carpets, and are made to be tougher and more resilient.

A very important characteristic of outdoor carpeting is that it must be waterproof, or to will quickly become damp in the conditions outside a house, especially if near a pool or in the rain.

While there are both natural fiber and synthetic outdoor carpets, several kinds of plastic-based textiles are the most common materials. Synthetic outdoor carpets also tend to be cheaper than their natural counterparts, although some people prefer using grass mat – based carpeting.

Outdoor carpets will turn your outside space into part of your living room, making them much more comfortable than they were before. In summer, you may hardly want to spend any time inside! Instead of unappealing concrete flooring, carpeting a patio for instance really improves the look of the space.

The fact that with carpeting you will be able to impress your own decorative style on an otherwise plain are of the house is certainly an advantage, but not risking to slip after is has rained adds a very concrete bonus.

Secondly, you will find that the added comfort of carpeting will make it more pleasant to sit or lie down, or to walk around barefoot, which will be a refreshing experience if you don’t do it already.

Talking about the effect that the carpeting will bring to the house’s decoration, consider that when looking at the material you should consider taking synthetics if you like bright colors, as plastic material fade less. If on the other hand you like natural colors, natural fibers such as sisal provide a great alternative.

When correctly laid out, outdoor carpets will be wholly waterproof and will allow you to walk on an almost dry, but very comfortable surface. Sometimes, adequate draining needs to be built into the installation.

Some carpets even come in precut tiles, for ease of installation. In most cases you can glue outdoor carpets directly onto the concrete flooring, although some types require a sandwich of padding in-between.

Different kinds of designs are available, from printed to patterned, from plain to grass-like. You can be assured that you will find the right kind for your needs. Outdoor carpets are indeed a valid floor covering alternative, that should be taken into consideration by anyone with outside space at home.

How Is Carpet Cleaning Done?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

antique rugs

Carpet owners everywhere can identify with the struggles of carpet cleaning. How often should it be done? How should it be done? These are important questions that need to be answered. There are a lot of options in the carpet treatment world. When someone knows what to do for carpets, it makes things a lot easier.

First of all, there are many different types of carpet, and sometimes it is best to treat each kind a little differently. In the world of carpets there are: wool carpets, Berber carpets, antique rugs and shag carpets, to name a few. Each of these different carpet types should be treated a little differently. An antique area rug should definitely not be treated with harsh chemicals, but for a carpet that has a hard stain, chemical removal might be the only way to get rid of the mark. Most people don’t know how often their carpets are supposed to be cleaned. Carpet cleaning should actually be done every one to two years. Sometimes, this information is written into the warranty when new carpet is purchased. If the carpet is not cleaned at least every two years, then the warranty becomes null and void. If a carpet is not used very often, then it might be possible to wait as long as five years to clean, but that is really not good for the air. So many allergens and dust particles get trapped deep in the carpet, so it should be a high priority to get carpets cleaned as regularly as possible.

There are at least four main ways to clean carpets. The first method is through steam cleaning. This is when hot water is applied to the carpet, and then steamed out immediately. Usually a detergent is used in this method as well. The second method used to clean carpets is the shampoo method. This method acts like a foaming shampoo wash for the carpet. Cleaning solution is whipped into a foamy substance that picks up the dirt. Then as the foaming dries, vacuuming picks up the final bits of dirt sticking to the leftover foam. The third method for carpet treatment is the professional in-house cleaning.

This is when your carpet is delivered to the cleaners to be cleaned in a special way by the cleaning company. This method is usually used for an area rug or antique rugs. The last method for cleaning carpets is the absorbent dry compound process. This method sprinkles a dry chemical powder over the area, and it is then worked into the carpet with a special machine. The dirt attaches itself to the powder, and subsequent vacuuming sucks the powder and dirt right up. This is the only method of cleaning that does not use water.

So now you know how often to clean your carpets, and what methods are available to use. Most of these carpet cleaning methods are only used by professionals, but shampooing and steam cleaning can usually be done by you. It is always good to know your options, and so hopefully you feel better about the process of cleaning your carpets. Good luck with your floor covering maintenance!
